Outgoing principal honoured at spring membership meeting

The first membership meeting in the history of Timothy Christian School to be held by video conference included an emotional video tribute to longtime principal Marg Lise.

The school’s leader for the past 15 years, Mrs. Lise will be moving on at the end of the current academic year. At-home learning will continue until the end of the school year — June 17.

Words of encouragement and blessing were shared via video for Mrs. Lise, who also addressed the TCS Association for the final time on May 25.

“Thank you for letting me be a part of TCS all these years,” she said. “They are years that I will not soon forget and they have made a big impact on my life and the life of my family.”

“I have been blessed to work in such a place as this.”

TCS Association members and parents also heard from incoming principal, Jocelyn Paas, who expressed her joy at the opportunity to step into the role.

“I’m really excited for what God is doing at Timothy Christian School,” she said. “I sense the deep commitment to God and to His mission and to His purposes (here).”

Board members added

Also at the meeting, four new association members were approved to join the board of directors for three-year terms. New members are Henriette Grootenboer, Ryan Guetter, Patrenella Lawson and Asher Roffel.

Outgoing members Saco Bijl, Terence Kenneth, Jerry Ramos and Jeremy Schouten were thanked for their years of volunteering with the North Etobicoke elementary school.

The 2020/2021 board will consist of the following members: Jake Speelman, Julie Anne Ananthasothy, Henriette Grootenboer, Ryan Guetter, Patrenella Lawson, Michelle Lorimer, Karen Milley, Asher Roffel, Laura Ubbens and Marcel Vander Wier.

In addition, the association passed a budget which includes a 2.2 per cent increase to tuition fees. There was no increase last year. General tuition is now $14,000 per family.

Located at 28 Elmhurst Drive, Timothy Christian School is home to more than 85 families and 150 students from 46 area churches.
